Nurse practitioner unlawfully prescribing drugs arrested


MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Dyersburg nurse practitioner was arrested Thursday for unlawfully distributing prescription drugs from the medical clinic she owned and operated.

According to a press launch, Kelly McCallum, 39, unlawfully prescribed managed substances equivalent to oxycodone and hydrocodone on the Convenient Care Clinic. Over 4 years, McCallum prescribed greater than two million opioid drugs and greater than 900,000 drugs that contained benzodiazepines.

She allegedly offered prescriptions to people that she had private and sexual relationships with. It can also be reported that she prescribed harmful mixtures of managed substances to her sufferers. When she was out of the workplace, she left pre-signed prescriptions for her workers to distribute whereas she was gone.

McCallum’s arrest comes six months after she was ordered to cease and desist practicing due to similar accusations and had her license suspended. She additionally reportedly ripped a door of its hinges and introduced intercourse toys to work.

If convicted, McCallum faces a most of 20 years in jail for the drug fees and 10 years in jail for well being care fraud.
